Introduction | CE 001

Dear friends !

I am Dr. Ashoke Dey. After graduation, I got an industrial experience of 4 years at the beginning of my career. Then I joined the profession of teaching and spent there a long period of 33 years.

Learning technique and attitude has been drastically changed in this 37 years. The pedagogy has also been changed. In stead of gathering deeper knowledge on a subject, average and common students are practicing exam oriented learning. Getting better marks has become more important than getting better knowledge. Hence, the students are qualifying their exams as a time bound project. They know that everything is there in internet and hence they try to get all answers from internet using their mobiles.

To overcome this difficulty, I was thinking for a long time to impart students a minimum knowledge required to become a civil engineer in a way they prefer. Accordingly, I decided to open a blog on civil engineering which will reach the students through their mobiles. I hope, this blog will be able to supplement the knowledge of present day civil engineering students. I further hope that this blog will also be able to enrich the knowledge and experience of young civil engineers who are now working in the industry.

I shall try my level best to serve the society but it is you who can do it better than me by leaving suggestions and comments. Hope, I'll not be deprived from your support and inspiration.
